TER-SORB MB - Odor absorber for plastic processing/masterbatches/plastic recycling
The activated zinc ricinoleate is incorporated into a carrier material and is offered as a masterbatch (MB) in coarse powder form. This pre-processing enables higher temperature stability and facilitates the incorporation of the odor absorber into the polymer matrix, which is of particular interest to plastics processors.
TER-SORB MB types / carrier
- TER-SORB MB-50-EAA / Ethylene acrylic acid copolymer
- TER-SORB MB-50-EVA / Ethylene vinyl acetate
- TER-SORB MB-50-HDPE / High Density Polyethylene
- TER-SORB MB-50-MDPE / Medium Density Polyethylene
- TER-SORB MB-50-PP / Polypropylene
- TER-SORB MB-50-PVC / Polyvinyl chloride
When do we recommend using TER-SORB MB products?
TER-SORB MB is recommended for combating unpleasant malodors in the manufacture of plastic products. Malodor nuisance in these processes can be caused by using pigments, certain additives, the use of recycled polymers or by vulcanization processes. The use of TER-SORB MB products is therefore recommended for masterbatch manufacturers and compounders as well as for film manufacturers and recyclers.
Additive for plastics recycling
SureFlo® is a black thermoplastic hydrocarbon resin used as a high-performance homogenizing and compatibility agent in plastics recycling. SureFlo® has been specially developed to improve the processing of thermoplastics such as polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer and nylon. SureFlo® increases flowability, increases throughput, reduces cycle time and lowers the processing temperature of the recycled material. The reduced processing temperature results in less thermal degradation and therefore retention of physical properties. SureFlo® also reduces production downtime due to less frequent tool cleaning. The recycled plastic is used, e.g. in injection molding, extrusion and compounding.
Impact modifiers: Increased resistance due to innovative additives
Impact modifiers and compatibilizers such as SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene), SEBS (styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene) and Exxelor optimize the mechanical properties of polymers.
Due to the combination of styrene and butadiene, SBS offers excellent impact strength combined with good flexibility. It can therefore be used for a wide range of applications. SEBS has comparable properties to SBS and is characterized by improved weather resistance and thermal stability. MAH-grafted SEBS grades are also available for further applications.
Exxelor are high-performance additives based on EPDM, PP or HDPE and grafted with different levels of MAH that e. g. improve the impact strength of Engineering Thermoplastics even at low temperatures or reinforce compounds by improving the incorporation of fillers.
Do you need wax?
TER Chemicals offers the full variety of waxes that will help you to process your polymers successfully. Let’s start with our Fischer Tropsch waxes Vestowax. Oxidized or non-modified, they can be used as an external or internal lubricant for plastic processing. Polyolefin waxes based on PE and PP, Licowax and Licocene, are used also in masterbatches. The are available in their oxidized form as well and can be obtained as powder and pastilles. Even micronized powders are available as Ceridust. Special grades are modified with maleic anhydride to obtain excellent adhesion to polar surfaces. They also help to mix polymers of different polarity. And if your polymer is very polar, you may want to pick one of our Montan waxes. They are also used in polishes. A natural approach are our rice bran waxes Licocare, which do the trick based on plant-based ingredients. Finally, a selection of paraffins and micro waxes completes our portfolio.
Optimize your plastic processing with PEarlene™ Silicone Masterbatches
Processing aids like PEarlene Silicone Masterbatches offer numerous benefits both during plastic processing and in the final product. These masterbatches enhance the extrusion speed of plastic moldings, ensure uniform mold filling, and reduce energy consumption without requiring adjustments to your conventional processing units.
PEarlene Silicone Masterbatches contain a significant amount of ultra-high molecular weight polysiloxane melt-compounded into suitable polymer carriers. The portfolio includes formulations suitable for carrier materials such as polypropylene (PP), ethyl methacrylate (EMA), and polyethylene (PE). This versatility allows the masterbatches to be used in various applications, including automotive interiors, office equipment housings, pipes and conduits, wire and cable insulation, BOPP packaging films and HFFR compounds.
